A Broadway Revue

Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshop (ages 14-22)

Will Meet as arranged by the Michael Ferris, Director.

The Dodge Pratt Northam Art & Community Center will  offer it’s Summer Youth Musical Theatre Workshop again this year…are you in?  To help you answer that question, here’s what you need to know:

*This is a 5-week intensive workshop open to highly-motivated high school and college-age individuals who’ve been bitten by the theatre bug!

*Daily sessions will include body/vocal warm-ups and exercises to strengthen vocal production, acting exercises and improvs to improve the skill of “being yourself” on stage and telling the story seamlessly through word and song.

*We will work/play together as a team, creating a circle of trust and an original script which will allow everyone to shine!  Songs from the musical theatre, movies and even pop standards will be used to help tell our story.  The focus of the revue is on you, the performer!  There will be no microphones!  Minimal set elements and simple, suggestive lighting will help us all stay focused on our goal of encouraging, strengthening and stretching your stage talents and performance technique!

*Saturday mornings, we will have a movement/dance class, led by Anna Engstrom, which will give us a greater awareness of our bodies, and a basic repertoire of theatre dance steps/moves.  Group number choreography will be given and rehearsed at these classes, too.

The workshop/rehearsal period dates:

Thursday, July 5th, 12:00-4:00  first meeting/session at Boonville Elementary School Auditorium, till 2:30.

Friday, July 6th, 12:00-4:00  second session
